It is an 11-day trek, so it is ideal for anyone looking for an Everest Base Camp trek of this duration. The trek has one acclimatization day, so make sure it is enough for you to acclimatize.
Likewise, trekking to Everest Base Camp is tough. You need to be in good health and shape. You need physical fitness, willpower, determination, and a positive attitude to complete this remote multi-day trek in the Himalayas.
There is no age limit or prior high altitude requirement.
Short Everest Base Camp trek difficulty
The difficulty of the short Everest Base Camp trek is moderate. Lukla to Phakding walk is easy. It will take you around three hours.
The second day of walking between Phakding and Namche Bazaar is a bit tough because some section's terrain is steep sections. It is also a long 6 hours walk.
You will spend a rest day in Namche, which will prepare you for the upcoming high altitude and uphill walking. As you hike from Namche onwards, high altitude and rugged terrain will demand much more effort.
You may get tired easily and feel out of breath. Therefore, it is important that trekkers maintain their pace and look after themselves while trekking at higher altitudes.
Up to Dingboche, you will mostly trek through forested hills and follow uneven hillsides. After Dingboche village, you will enter an alpine zone, where you will traverse alpine meadows and glacier moraine.
Can beginners do the short Everest Base Camp trek?
Yes, beginners can do the short Everest Base Camp trek. This is an 11-day itinerary, with only one acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar.
So, we recommend this trek to only those trekkers who are fine with one acclimatization day. Apart from that, the itinerary is not fast-paced.
How to prepare for the trek?
Unless you are not a veteran trekker or a very fit individual, do not join the Everest Base Camp trek without a preparation period. The Everest Base Camp trek is demanding, and you have to be physically and mentally ready to complete the trek.
Book the trek early and keep 2 to 4 months for preparation. During this duration, you should improve your strength and stamina, build long walking habits, and do a few day hikes.
Likewise, learn about the trek, what it is like during hiking, accommodation, food, and other services. With better knowledge about the trek, you will have the right expectations, and there will be less chance of disappointment.
Similarly, if you have any pre-medical condition that may be affected during the high-altitude trek, consult your doctor and inform us. Trekking also requires lots of alpine clothes, gear, and other essentials.
Arranging everything takes time, so start early. Apart from our short Everest Base Camp trek package cost, you also have to budget money for expenses that are not covered in our package.
For example, travel insurance, guide and porter tips, international flights to/from Kathmandu, Nepal travel visa fees, shopping, etc, are not covered in the package cost.
So, you have to budget these expenses and set aside the money. Having 2 to 4 months on hand will allow you to flexibly allocate the money without any burden.

You will do the short Everest Base Camp trek with a professional guide and a local porter. Our management team will take care of you in Kathmandu. During hiking, our guide and porter will assist you and make sure you are safe.
We provide a professional, licensed guide who will help you navigate the mountainous terrain and share a lot of insights about the Everest Base Camp route. The Everest Base Camp trek is well-established, but the terrain demands guidance.
Likewise, our guide is an expert in acclimatizing. Along with our one acclimatization day, he will also plan an acclimatization strategy customized to your needs.
It increases the success of the trek as well as your well-being. Porter, on the other hand, carries a duffel bag for you. One porter handles the duffel bags of two trekkers. Each trekker has 8/9 kg duffel bag weight limit.
Guide and porter tip: Tipping guide and porter is a custom in Nepal. It shows your gratitude towards their hard work and dedication. Tip 15% to 20% of the package if you are not sure how much to tip. If you are trekking a group, consider tipping collectively.
Nepal tourist visa
Our short Everest Base Camp trek package does not include a Nepal tourist visa. Trekkers have to obtain it by themselves.
Travelers from many countries can obtain a tourist visa upon landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
You need a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the day you enter Nepal.

Extra expenses during trekking
During trekking, you may want to buy souvenirs or extra food and beverages.
Likewise, lodges charge additional money for services like WiFi, charging, and hot showers.
These expenses are not covered by our short Everest Base Camp trek cost. So, these are your extra expenses during trekking.
Lukla flight
Between March to May and September to November, the Lukla flights are operated from Ramechhap Airport.
It takes around 4 to 5 hours to drive to Ramechhap Airport from Kathmandu. Therefore, trekkers leave their hotel at around 1:00 AM.
Similarly, between June to August and December to February, the Lukla flights are operated from Kathmandu Airport.
Perfect weather is required to operate Lukla flights, so even a little disturbance in weather may cause delays.
Sometimes, the flights also get canceled. We recommend our trekkers budget USD 600 in case you have to opt for a helicopter flight. Note that it doesn't happen frequently.
