If you do not have 14 days to do the standard Everest Base Camp trek or are not fit enough to hike through the high-altitude environment, our Everest View trek is an excellent option. It is a short and easy trek in the Everest region, ideal for trekkers of all ages, explores the famous Lukla and Namche Bazaar, and offers stunning views of Mount Everest.

This 7 days trip includes arrival and departure from Kathmandu, traveling to/from Lukla, and trekking duration. You will complete the whole journey in a week. Our team will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and escort you to your hotel in a private four-wheeler.

You do not have to worry about your luggage. Our team will assist you with that. Upon check-in at the hotel, you can rest for a few hours and then meet us for the trek briefing. You will meet with your trek guide. He will brief us on the itinerary and share our acclimatization plan.

You will end this day by doing last-minute shopping for the trek and exploring the vibrant streets of Thamel. On the second day of the trip, you will fly to Lukla airport. It is famous for its remote location, high altitude, and short runway.

Only small propeller planes can fly here. It will be a thrilling flight for sure. These days, the Lukla flights are operated from Ramechhap Airport in the spring and autumn seasons and from Kathmandu Airport in the summer/monsoon and winter seasons.

If you are doing the Everest View trek 7 days during the peak seasons (spring and autumn), you will leave your hotel at around 2:00 AM and drive to Ramechhap Airport to catch a morning flight to Lukla.

You will enjoy an outstanding aerial panorama of the Himalayan range during the flight. It will leave you speechless. Upon landing at Lukla airport, we will meet with our porters.

There will be a short meet and greet session, and after that, we will begin descending to Phakding village. The elevation gain from Kathmandu to Lukla is huge. Therefore, we descend to Phakding to acclimatize and avoid altitude sickness on the way to Namche Bazaar.

The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, which has been crossed several times via suspension bridges. On the way, you will trek through rhododendron forests and pass by small settlements like Ghat and Cheplung.

This part of the trail offers stunning views of Mt. Thamserku and Kongde Ri. After spending a night at Phakding village, we will continue the hike to Namche Bazaar. From Phakding to Namche Bazaar, you will walk around 7.4 kilometers (6 hours).

You will follow the Dudh Koshi River and trek through dense forests of rhododendron and magnolia. On the way, you will cross the long Tenzing Hillary Suspension Bridge and register your trek permits at the police check post in Monjo village.

The Monjo to Namche Bazaar part of the route is steep, so you may find it difficult. But do not worry, our expert guide will help you navigate the trail and ensure your safety.

Not many trekkers realize that just before reaching Namche Bazaar, there comes a point from where you can see the very first glimpse of Mt. Everest. It will be a thrilling moment.

Upon reaching Namche Bazaar, you will be welcomed by a bustling market and tourists from all around the world. Namche Bazaar is the biggest Sherpa settlement, so you can look forward to seeing the daily lifestyle of Sherpas and interacting with them.

You will feel like you are in a different world in Namche Bazaar. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. You can feel a huge community support and engagement, which is hard to come across in metropolitan cities.

Our Everest View trek itinerary includes two nights in the Namche Bazaar. So, you will have ample time to explore this beautiful town and its surrounding area. You will go on a side excursion to Hotel Everest View from Namche Bazaar.

It will be a short hike. Hotel Everest View is one of the highest hotels in the world and was also awarded by Guinness World Records for its location/elevation.

During the hike, you can see breathtaking views of mountains like Thamerku, Kongde Ri, and Khumbila. Likewise, from the hotel, you will see a mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Ama Dablam.

From Hotel Everest View, you can further hike to Khumjung Monastery and Sir Edmund Hillary School or return to Namche Bazaar to spend the night. While in Namche Bazaar, you will also visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery.

Not only that, but you can also visit the Irish Pub to enjoy some good food, drinks, and music with fellow travelers. After enjoying your time in Namche Bazaar, you will retrace your steps to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu.

On the seventh day of the trip, our team will drop you at the international airport for your flight back home.

Everest View trek difficulty & fitness

  • Easy/Moderate difficulty (easier than the Everest Base Camp trek)
  • Daily walking hours: 5-6 hours
  • Suitable for beginners? Yes, with basic fitness
  • Everest View trek distance: Around 32 km

Everest View trek is a beginner-friendly trek. This trek is suitable for trekkers without previous trekking experience. You will ascend to Namche Bazaar on this trek and take an additional side hike to the Hotel Everest View.

The challenging part of the trail is the hike from Phakding village to Namche Bazaar. The trail is steep, so many trekkers find it a bit tough. However, by maintaining your pace and following our trekking guide's instructions, you can navigate it.

You will hike 5 to 6 hours a day, so good fitness is required. We recommend trekkers exercise and do a few day hikes in their country before joining the Everest View trek.

As you ascend from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, you will experience varying weather and altitude. Beyond Phakding village, you will start to experience the effects of high altitude. But it is nothing to worry about. Just follow our acclimatization plan and you will be fine.

Altitude sickness and prevention

The risk of altitude sickness is low on the Everest View trek. Still, once you go above 2,500 meters, it is important that you acclimatize. Our Everest View trek itinerary includes hiking up to 3,962 meters (13,000 ft) from sea level.

From Kathmandu, you will gain this altitude in three days of hiking, which is definitely a lot. However, you will not spend a night at 3,062 meters. Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,290 ft) is the highest point where you will spend the night on the Everest View trek.

Kindly follow the tips below to avoid altitude sickness:

  • Headache, vomiting, nausea, insomnia, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and loss of appetite are the early signs of altitude sickness. If you see these symptoms, you must inform your guide and get first aid.
  • Hike slowly and follow a maintained pace. You do not have to rush. Take your time and enjoy nature.
  • Drink at least two liters of water daily. The hydrated body quickly acclimatizes.
  • Alcoholic drinks and smoking will make you dehydrated and prone to altitude sickness. Therefore, avoid them while ascending. You can taste local wine and beer while returning to Lukla.
  • You will need lots of energy to walk for long hours daily. So, eat ample carbohydrate-rich food.

Trip extension

The Everest View trek is not limited to Namche Bazaar. You can extend the trek to Tengboche village or Dingboche village. If you are looking to explore an untouched corner, consider hiking to Ama Dablam Base Camp. It's just a two-day walk from Tengboche village.

Similarly, you can also extend the Everest View trek to Everest Base Camp or Gokyo Lakes. There are many options. If you are looking for other options apart from trekking, you can consider combining a helicopter flight from Namche Bazaar to Everest Base Camp.

Is the Everest View trek 7 days suitable for you?

The Everest View trek 7 days is an excellent alternative to high-altitude treks like EBC and Gokyo Lakes in the Everest region. This trek is not only short but also comparatively easier and a perfect adventurous vacation for families, friends, and students.

Everest View Trek - 7 Days Itinerary

Meet the team of Base Camp Trip at the airport. They will welcome you in Nepal and escort you to the hotel. We will book you a nice hotel in the tourist area of the city called Thamel.

Rest for a few hours and later meet your guide. You will then buy trekking gear and other things for the journey and end the day enjoying the bustling streets of Thamel.

Our adventure begins today. We will fly to Lukla on this day. Depending on the season we are trekking, we may take the Lukla flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap Airport. The flight will be around half an hour long.

During the flight, we can see stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon landing in Lukla, we will trek to Phakding with our porters. The trail descends along the Dudh Koshi River.

On the way, we will cross many hanging suspension bridges and pass by small settlements like Ghat and Cheplung. The mountain views include Thamserku and Kongde Ri.

*Note:

  1. From March to May and September to November, Lukal flights are operated from Ramechhap Airport because of the high air traffic at Kathmandu Airport.
  2. It takes 4 to 5 hours to drive to Ramechhap Airport from Thamel, so we leave the hotel at 2:00 AM.
  3. The weather is unpredictable in the Himalayas, so Lukla flights often get delayed and canceled. It is best if you keep a backup for 2-3 days' expenses and a helicopter flight.

From Phakding, the trail continues to the famous Namche Bazaar. You will hike through a few small settlements and reach Monjo. Before reaching Monjo, we will cross the long Tenzing Hillary Suspension bridge.

Our permits will get registered at the police check post in Monjo, and we will gradually ascend to Namche Bazaar through forested hills. The trail gets steep as we get close to Namche Bazaar.

Today, we will spend an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. In the morning, we will hike to the Hotel Everest View. It is a famous luxury hotel that offers stunning views of Mount Everest from all its windows.

Likewise, we will also see views of Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Ama Dablam during the hike. After the hike, we will return to Namche Bazaar to spend the night.

We will visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and the Everest Photo Gallery on the way. The rest of the day is free. We can explore the market and relax. If we are in Namche Bazaar on Saturday, we will get to explore the famous Saturday Market.

The day starts with a delicious breakfast. After that, we will get ready to leave Namche Bazaar and trek back to Lukla. The trail first steeply descends and goes through rhododendron forests.

Trekking through forested hills and a few small settlements, we will reach Phakding. From here, the trail ascends along the Dudh Koshi River to Lukla. We will recross all the suspension bridges on the way.

Today, we will fly back to Kathmandu. We can see the final aerial views of the Himalayas during the flight. Upon landing at the airport, our representative will pick us up and escort us to the hotel.

The remaining day is free in Kathmandu. Rest and explore local markets. Window shop in Thamel and visit nearby tourist sites like Monkey Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, etc.

You will fly back to your home on this day. We will drop you at the international airport in Kathmandu and bid you our last goodbye.
